Thanks to all those who responded to my queries. I realise that the Savage is not a high speed performance bike and the fact that it is incapable of the ton is not a serious drawback. I reckon its advantages far outway its disadvantages, given the use that I would put it to. So I think I will proceed with my purchase of a Savage in the New Year ( if I can get one at the right price and condition ). So, if that happens, I will let u all know how I get on.
